Check out the TV news report on Lula Lake Land Trust’s Cloudland Connector trail project. Lula Lake Land Trust is an affiliate of Georgia Land Trust and Alabama Land Trust. Lula Lake protects more than 7,800 acres on Lookout Mountain.

In the clip from Channel 12 in Chattanooga, Tenn., Lula Lake Land Trust land manager Noel Durant talks about what’s so great about these trails.

The “Cloudland Connector” trail project is a multi-use trail (horses, mountain bikes, and hikers) that connects this huge landscape and makes it safe and fun for everyone. In the fall of 2009, Lula Lake Land Trust cut the ribbon at the Nick-A-Jack trailhead to celebrate the completion of the first 5.7 miles of this trail, which ends at Lula Lake Road just south of Thompsonville. Located about 12 miles from Chattonooga, the trails continue to expand, with the next 4.3 miles of connector trail under construction, with an additional 17 miles of world-class mountain bike terrain on the land donated by the land trust to the state of Georgia several years ago to add to Cloudland Canyon.

The Southeastern Off Road Biking Association (SORBA) is overseeing the development of these trails. This group is the same one that brought us a similar facility at Raccoon Mountain. Mountain bikers from all over the county are traveling to Chattanooga to enjoy this venue.

Here’s the clip. That’s Noel on the bike, showing some of the fun curves on the trail. To support or find out more information about the trails or Lula Land Land Trust, go to
